This issue’s Wedding Corner looks back to 1955. The first weddings were held in the Trinity Chapel even before its official consecration. On September 17, Peter Alley ’52 and Daphne Young were married on a hot late-summer day with best man F. Alan Lawson ’50 and Provost Reginald Seeley in attendance. About 150 people saw the just-completed inside of the chapel for the first time, as Daphne was determined to “walk down the aisle, dust or no dust.” But there are no photos from inside the chapel on that day.
On October 1, Jennifer Rickard ’52 and Harry Mansfield ’50, pictured above coming down the aisle, were married beneath the newly finished vaults of the new chapel, surrounded by classmates, clergy, and friends. Their stories mark the beginning of a long tradition of Trinity weddings.

The clergy included Michael Creal, Walter Bagnall (Bishop of Niagara), Charles Feilding (Dean of Divinity) and Murray Belway. Paul Moore ’50 was the best man.
