From Toronto District School Board classrooms to the Ministry of Education, and back to Trinity College.
Ask Joanna Lee how she spent her summer and she’ll describe “a medley of work, studies, rest, and play” — a fair preview of the person Trinity students will get to know this year.
Joanna is entering her second year of a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy. Through the end of June she was teaching occasionally with the Toronto District School Board, continuing to feed her passion for teaching, and she spent the rest of the summer completing MEd courses, with plenty of volleyball and bike rides worked in around the studying.
This September she will be starting a co-op position as a Policy Analyst at the Ministry of Education, in the policy adoption and policy implementation unit, where the focus is helping secondary school students identify their path forward after high school.
“I’m so excited to bridge my background in teaching with public policy,” she says.
At Trinity, Joanna returns as Academic Don-Writing Support, where she will help students develop a game plan for tackling written assignments, and to be a steady source of support for both residence and commuter students settling into the College. The transition to university is an academic and personal journey, and she’s approaching both halves with the same care. She also looks forward to referring students to the Writing Centre and the Trinity Reads program, where they can hone their reading and writing skills, for academia and pleasure alike.
