Bio and Research:

Ben Akrigg has taught Greek history at the University of Toronto since 2006. Before coming to Toronto he was lecturer in Greek history in the Classics Department at King’s College London. His principal research interest is in the economic and social history of classical Greece. His current main project is on the population and economy of Athens in the fifth and fourth centuries BCE. He is also co-editing (with Professor Rob Tordoff of York University) a volume on slaves and slavery in Greek comedy. He took his BA in Literae Humaniores at the University of Oxford, his MA in Archaeology at Birkbeck College London, and his PhD at the University of Cambridge.
