Wedding Corner: Jane Amys ’59 and James McMyn

Who: Jane Amys ’59 and James McMyn

When: June 25, 1965

Where:  The Trinity Chapel

From the bride:
Two of our bridesmaids, Honor (Dalglish) Shepley and Barbara (Goodwin) Christie, were alumnae (6T0) as was one of our ushers, John Goodwin (5T7). Our three-year-old flower girl was the daughter of Robert Metcalf ’59 and the minister was the Rev. Canon Hugh Bedford-Jones. My Aunt Anne (Amys) Walters ’30 was also there — she was a student at Trinity when St. Hilda’s did not yet have a building!

My Scottish husband, James, had only once, briefly visited Canada and liked the idea of getting married at Trinity because it reminded him of his Cambridge college. To make him feel more at home, our bridesmaids wore sashes in his tartan and we were accompanied out the Chapel door by a piper. Our wedding photograph was later published in the magazine The Scottish Field.

Who else was there:
Among the many Trinity alumni at the wedding were: Alastair Grant ’58 and Victoria (Atkinson) Grant ’59, Susan Houston ’59, Catherine (George) Joslin ’58, Glenna (Hart) Keenan ’59, Sandra (Kennedy) Lovering ’58 and Bill Lovering ’56, William Dafoe ’58, Gwen (Stogdill) Dafoe, Ann (Elliott) Romeril ’58, Nancy (Sloan) Graham ’58, Veronica (Szazs) Dowd ’58, Judy (Cunningham) Hunter and Martin Hunter.
